We had a great time singing with the group from Youth Encounter today. Our favorite song is The Hippo Song! The group is going to Africa later this year to sing about Jesus!
We wnet to the Woodson Art Museum on Sept. 22nd, 2011 to see Birds in Art. The playroom was great. It had different bird activities, and we couls even dress up like a dove, falcon, or eagle. We studied birds that were made out of wire and even got to meet a real artist who was visiting that day. We used pipe cleaners to make leaf shapes. Our trip to the Woodson Art Museum was fun!
We had a man named Lem Sheppard who sang Civil War songs.
The slaves worked and taught other slaves how to get to freedom by singing the songs. Montana
He showed us how to keep a beat for a work song. Emma
He sang songs about history. Carlee
Before he sang a song he told us a little history about the song.
He told us people thought the Civil War was going to be very short, but it was very long. Luke
I loved his songs. Kaitlin
Thoughts from 2nd Grade
We have all made it safely back to our earthly homes and families. Most of us are getting back into our routine. There is a little bit of a culture shock re-entering our own culture, so your continued prayers would be appreciated. In addition, we continue to pray for the congregation in San Pablo, the pastor in Zacapa and the CALMS team on the ground in Guatemala. In the next few months we will start conversations about our return visit. Maybe you would like to join us, so please pray about that as well. Also, please join us for our Guatemala service on Sunday, August 8th. We have lots of great stories to tell and pictures to share.
